Questions Regarding KPM Purchases
Some questions frequently encountered when purchasing a KPM plaque are listed below. We shall try to answer them in a
detailed manner that can be useful in the purchase of a KPM plaque.
a. Is it possible to visually discover a fake KPM plaque?
b. Why is the painting executed very poorly, not corresponding with the KPM mark?
c. I notice that most of the KPM plaques have a letter below the scepter, with "H" appearing rather frequently.
What do the letters mean?
d. Plaques often have two sets of 3 digit numbers (e.g. "XXX-XXX"). Sometimes they have an additional mark
or symbol. I would like to learn more about these marks so that I can better identify them and understand
their meaning when looking at a plaque.
e. Why is one KPM plaque noticeably heavier than another with the identical width and height? Is this
circumstance an occasion for doubt in authenticity of the KPM plaque?
f. Are there any miniature KPMs?
g. Do you know any good sources for learning about KPM and Hutschenreuther marks?
